Sweet, huh?
I'm not a huge Jeff Beck fan...I couldn't name his last three albums. But golly! I can't pass up a chance to see one of the greatest guitarist ever. I'm looking into tickets...they are scarce. _________________ When we find someone whose weirdness is compatible with ours, we join up with them and fall into mutually satisfying weirdness--and call it love--true love.

Joe's Garage is the last album I can name. I've heard him play only a few times... that would be enough to get me to a concert.
A news report said that the center section sold out in ten minutes!
edit: Make that Jeff Beck's Guitar Shop. I hate it when I get Beck and Zappa mixed up. *snort*

Center!
Yeah, about halfway back...tickets sold out in minutes. The venue doesn't really have a bad section. We should be good.
I'm very excited. _________________ When we find someone whose weirdness is compatible with ours, we join up with them and fall into mutually satisfying weirdness--and call it love--true love.

Holy Crap!!!!!!!
It was soooooo awesome.
He played music almost the entire time. Beck said maybe 12 words all night. Fine by me. Just wow.

His band was great. Drummer and bassist are newcomers to Beck's stable, but the pianist has been around for an album or two. Rhonda Smith is the bassist on this tour. She's been around and you may or may not recognize her from Prince.
Here she is at the concert I attended:

Yeah, baby! Whoa. *gets goosebumps*
Jeff Beck had a different lady bass player on his last tour. She has her own project now.

Tal Wilkenfeld's style is more jazz/rock/blues while Rhonda Smith's style is more jazz/funk. Both are very versatile, of course. Here's Tal Wilkenfeld with Jeff Beck in 2007--

I saw those tweed amps in the 2007 video somewhere. I remember the red gaffer's tape. *snort*
Thanks for sharing! Good to see you 'round these parts. I hope you and the Pez Man are well. |
